Dear AFGE brothers and Sister,
President Trump has announced that he intends to sign an executive order to ensure all Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employees receive their pay. As the longest government shutdown in our nation’s history continues, workers have borne the brunt of its impact. Many of our members have shared how deeply this shutdown has affected their lives and the well‑being of their families.
Once again, congressional gridlock over agency funding has left workers carrying the burden. In the face of this stalemate, AFGE members have stepped up for one another—providing food, essential supplies, and unwavering solidarity during an incredibly difficult time.
We have also continued to apply pressure on lawmakers through calls, letters, and media outreach to highlight how this shutdown is harming everyday workers. Our collective efforts contributed to last week’s executive order ensuring TSA officers received their pay, and now another order is being prepared to cover all DHS employees.
We know how challenging this moment is, and we remain committed to doing everything we can to ensure all DHS workers are made whole.
